Forest Bathing

Ringlands Rainforest Track – Narooma 25 October 2020

Forest bathing or “Shinrin Yoku” is all about being in the presence of trees and incorporating gentle mindfulness exercises. I find forest bathing lowers my heart rate and blood pressure, reduces my stress levels as well as adding some good chi to my immune system.

The Ringland Bay rainforest track is an excellent short walk to get your senses back in tune with nature. The walk follows the shore of the Wagonga Inlet, it is not a loop walk so can be started at either the Shell Point or Flying Fox Bay end. The rainforest is located at the Flying Fox Bay end. This is also a dog-friendly walk.

Trig Bagging – Mt Arawang

IMG_0079Tuesday 7.30 am and the temperature was 10 decrees celsius, with a cool north-westerly wind blowing. A perfect morning for a walk/run on the ridge, work can wait for an hour or so. Mt Arawang at 765 metres is at the southern end of the Coolamon Ridge walk. The access track from the Kambah horse paddocks is steep and a great cardio workout.

Trigs have a cosmic intrigue for me, the symmetry of the structure exposed to the elements. A great space for some meditation and quiet reflection.
